One of the perks of working downtown? Getting to stuff my face with an abundance of delicious food!
People who know me know I love to eat. (If you’re struggling for a visual, my mom says I eat like a truck driver, so there you go.) I’ll eat pretty much anything, but I love love love delicious concoctions!! Working downtown in the loop means easy access to some fantastic lunch places. I’ve had to grab dinner lately as well, since I don’t have much time between work and my class. I try to pack my lunch most days (health + $) but on days when I don’t have time or I forget, I love knowing I have so many delicious options! Read on for a round-up of ten great places to nosh if you’re downtown!
Brown Bag Seafood Co.
A fantastic find, right across the street from Millennium Park. They serve up delicious seafood dishes, and their fish of the day can’t be beat! I also love that you can sit outside in the summer months.
The Dearborn
This place just opened and holy cow does it deliver. Their food is insanely good, and the decor is to die for! Seriously, go for the oysters and stay for the light fixtures. Also I love that, weather permitting, they open their floor-to-ceiling windows so you feel as if you’re dining on the city streets!
Cochon Volant
My family and I frequent this place for lunch and I have to say, it kills every time. Order the smoked whitefish avocado salad, you won’t be disappointed.
Goddess and the Baker
An easy-peasy place to grab a quick bite in between meetings classes. They use a yummy herb-ricotta on their avocado toast and it is sooooo good.
Blackwood BBQ
Who doesn’t love BBQ?!
Luke’s Lobster
I say it all the time – I’d eat seafood for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I don’t, because $$$, but when I’m willing to splurge you can bet I’m going for the lobster roll.
Latinicity
Confession: I haven’t actually been here yet! But I hear it’s great, and reminiscent of a Mexican cantina. ALL THE TACOS.
Hannah’s Bretzel
Legit, this is my achilles’ heel. I can’t go one week without getting the portabella and goat cheese wecken sandwich.
Acanto
A little gem, across the street from the bean (spoiler: it ain’t exactly cheap.) If you’re a wine drinker (which I’m not), they have a large assortment to choose from.
Broken English
More tacos? Yes please!
What did I miss? Any favorites I didn’t include? Let me know, I’m always down to try something new!

You might eat as much as a truck driver but you look like a princess doing it!
Our Italian friend LOVED having lunch with Kira! He enjoyed watching her order almost everything on the menu at THE DEARBORN and share a dozen oysters with him as a starter!
