Well hello there! Here I am, finally emerging from my quarantined bedroom, to bring you today’s hot-button issue: mixing metals.
People have mixed feeling about mixing metals but I, for one, am a major proponent.
When it comes to choosing finishes for a space, I like to use this rule of thumb: at least two, no more than three different finishes per room. If you stick with only one finish, 99% of the time you’re going to lose dimension and the space will read flat (a.k.a. boring). Keep things interesting by incorporating a second finish – this doesn’t necessarily mean you have to have an even amount of stainless steel and oil-rubbed bronze. Nay, you can opt for adding a different finish for just one item – say, the sink faucet, or a pendant light.
Let’s take a look at some spaces that do this well, shall we?
So what do you think? Are you for or against mixing metals? If you’ve always been a bit fearful, try integrating something temporary, such as a vase, dish, or plant container. I think you’ll find you will like the difference it adds to the space 😉
Ok, on to conquer Monday now!
