There’s nothing sweeter than a little girl’s bedroom. Nor is there anything more fun to decorate. In fact, my very first design project was a little girl’s room.
For myself.
When I was 5.
The story went something like this: We were moving (again) and my mom asked me what color I wanted to paint my new bedroom. Knee-deep in my all-things-pink-and-purple phase, I naturally chose, you guessed it, PINK and PURPLE. Oh what fond memories I have of that lavender carpeting and those pink (sponge-painted) walls. (C’mon guys, it was the nineties after all).
We moved many more times after that and with each move I got to decorate a new bedroom. I guess you could say it’s how I first cut my design chops – picking out my new bedding and rug and wall color, again, and again, and again. #madskills
So when my cousin Emma asked me to help come up with some ideas for her bedroom you know I immediately squealed with delight. Emma lives in Madison, WI and is in high school. She’s certainly outgrown a “little girl’s” space and needs something more age-appropriate. Still fun, but with a touch of sophistication. She shared her Pinterest board with me and I set to work scouring the internet for some stylish, yet affordable finds. Scroll on to see the mood board I created for her.
What do you think? Sophisticated enough? Girly enough? Did I capture her vision? (I guess only you can really answer that Emma!)
I hope this little design inspo made your Monday a little less brutal. Here’s to another busy week ahead!

Great choices, and I think you captured the vision well – the room and accessories will grow with her. I’m significantly older than her and would choose a lot of the same elements for my home office – which I’m working on redoing as we speak! Thanks for the inspiration and have a great week!
