Top – less than $10!! (also love this, this, and this) / Jeans (also think these and these are super cute) / Necklace (also love this one and this one) / Bag / Shoes (similar here and here)
I’ll never get sick of a striped tee and jeans. Classic, timeless, effortless.
First off, MAJOR CONGRATULATIONS are in order for my dear friend Claire from Centered By Design! Claire won the “Best Blog Writing” at this year’s Design Blogging Conference in L.A.!! It is such a huge achievement, and I am so proud of her.
(Fun Fact: Claire was the first person I reached out to in the interior design field to interrogate about transitioning careers. She was SO helpful and has been such an incredible mentor and friend to me as I navigate the tricky waters that is changing paths when you’re 30! I adore her work (which you can see here), but I adore her kind heart and soul even more! Way to go Claire, well deserved!)
Anywho, on to today’s outfit post, which features a classic, timeless, staple: the striped shirt. The beautiful thing about the striped shirt is that it is arguably the most versatile piece a woman can own. Dress it up with a skirt and pumps, or down with denim and sneakers. Both looks are equally chic. Part Parisian flair, coupled with sailing lessons on Nantucket. A most perfect article of clothing in my book.
Other things on my mind lately….
- I’m falling back in love with the word “hustle.” I was not feeling it for a while there, it was over-used and one-dimensional. But now with this new job really taking off I feel like I’m hustling in the very best of ways. It feels really good to give something all you’ve got, you know? V rewarding.
- Blair, a fellow Chicago blogger, recently wrote this post on health. I’ve been thinking about overall health lately, namely my own. I’ve mentioned exercise before, but never really eating habits. I’ll be honest, I struggle with good eating habits. I wish I could say I love to nosh on big, leafy greens but alas, it just ain’t true. Instead I crave sugar, a.k.a. the white poison, all. the. time. I wake up craving sugar, I go to bed craving sugar, I think it’s safe to say I’m addicted to sugar. (I may or may not be eating chocolate as I type this.) Listen, I’m just never going to give up all the sugar, but I would like to eat a more balanced diet.
- Yoga. I’ve been taking a yoga class almost daily for the past couple months and it feels so good. It not only makes my physical body feel great, but it’s also how I practice self-love. I find the moving meditation has really helped me handle my stress much, much better.
- Spring. I know talking about the weather is boring, but it’s just such a big part of my life as a Chicagoan. We’ve had a few sunny days with milder temperatures and it’s making me seriously crave springtime. I’m really needing that light at the end of the tunnel.
What else are you up to this week? Anything fun or exciting? Do tell!
