Are you prepared for Chi-beria? Because I for one AM NOT.
There is truly nothing worse for me than the bitter, biting cold that is Chicago in the winter time. It creeps inside my bones and stays until the spring. NO THANK YOU, MR. COLD, YOU ARE NOT WELCOME HERE. This is probably one of the many reasons I dread the winter (that, and the insane lack of daylight).
I wish it didn’t bother me so, because I actually find wintertime to be quite peaceful and beautiful. The quiet that comes after a big snow, the crackling of the fireplace, the clear, moonlit nights. These things are all so lovely, and create a sense of dormancy and space for quiet reflection. It’s that damn cold I could do without.
One of the ways I try to stay warm is to dress myself in an obscene amount of layers. Wool sweater? I’ll take two, thank you very much. A puffer jacket that resembles a sleeping bag and a hat fit for exploring the Arctic will also do the trick.
This sweater is one of my favorite ways to stay warm in the winter. It’s from Ireland, but I’ve linked some similar styles below in case you’re in the market for one.
I’m plugging along this week at work and already looking forward to going home to my own bed (and to Tom, of course). Our final project for class is due on Monday (insert Nervous Nelly emoji here). Since I can’t work on it while I’m away from home I plan to block out a chunk of time on Sunday to tackle it. I have most of the work complete, it’s just transferring it all into a nice, neat package for presentation. Until then, you can find me with my nose to the grindstone, just chugging away! Oh, and I almost forgot! If you’re in Chicago this Friday night, swing by my friend Beth‘s holiday event at South Loop Loft! (Details here) If I know anything about Beth, this party will be visually STUNNING. Don’t believe me? Just scroll her insta feed for like .2 seconds. See? I TOLD YOU.
Ok it’s off to work for me, and I hope you all have a happy Wednesday! See you back here on Friday folks.
