Today’s post is all about how to score some seriously cool fall looks without breaking the bank. I am the first to admit that my shopping budget is practically nil each month. But if there’s anything I learned over my many years of bargain hunting, it’s that you don’t always have to shell out ALL THE DOLLARS to achieve some trendy styles. In fact, I like to follow this rule of thumb: If you’ll keep it for ten+ years, go for the quality version (usually pricier, but will last longer). If you’re going for seasonal trends, stick with the less expensive options. This way you don’t feel like you’re throwing money out the window chasing down funky pieces only to end up with a pair of pom pom kitten heels you’ll never wear again (yes, it’s happened, no, I don’t want to talk about it). So let’s get into some of today’s items, no? Great.
I’m breaking down five items you’ll want for your autumn closet. First up is a comfy cozy sweater situation. You know you need a super plush cardi for fall, and it will also carry you through the winter months too. Unlike me, maybe you can afford this version. If you can, good for you, I have no jealousy issues whatsoever (ahem). HOWEVER, if you don’t have those kinda funds, do not despair. This version is a fraction of the price and just as cozy (I’ve felt it in person – SO soft).
Next up we’ve got the quintessential fall shoe – the suede bootie. Everyone and their mother has this guy, so to me it doesn’t really feel unique, but holy cow is it a fabulous little bootie. If you want the look without the hefty price tag, try this one. (Side note, I’m loving EVERYTHING from Treasure & Bond these days).
Moving onto the cross-body saddle bag we have this option, which is roughly equivalent to one installment of my property taxes. OR we’ve got this nifty little number, which is just as cute and won’t give me heart palpitations if I spill something on it.
Finally we come to the raw hem denim debate. Are you for or against? I think I’m into it, although admittedly I haven’t pulled the trigger on a pair of my own yet. These are certainly a statement maker, while this option is a little subtler but still on point.
And of course, everyone’s favorite fall staple: the over-the-knee boot. Yes, these ones are the best. No, I cannot afford them (even in my dreams). BUT this version actually looks super cute and verrrrrrry similar. Also, they cost pennies compared to the Stuarts.
What do you guys think? Will you try out any trends this fall? Or do you stick with your tried and true staples?
