Father’s Day is this Sunday and if you, like me, aren’t exactly a plan-ahead-type then chances are you haven’t yet thought about a gift. To be completely honest, I just gave my mom her Mother’s Day gift. Yesterday.
Dads can be fun to shop for, but also a little tricky. To keep your dads looking classy all summer long check out this Father’s Day Gift Guide to steer you in the right direction.
Shaving Kit: Unless your father is rocking a beard, chances are he’s using a two-month old Bic razor and Barbasol shave cream in his daily ritual. Treat him to a luxurious shaving kit from The Art of Shaving that also happens to look super fly sitting on the bathroom counter.
Briefcase: I know no man who doesn’t need a solid briefcase. I’m guessing your dad has been using the same tired guy for the past ten years. J.Crew offers a durable, classic-looking, affordable version in a variety of colors. I like the blue since it jives with both black and brown accessories.
Socks: Can you go wrong with a pair of socks for dad? These J.Crew socks have the cutest prints – sailboats and zigzags.
Moisturizer: I’m guessing your dad doesn’t think twice about his skin care. Or maybe he considers Softsoap good enough for his face. Get him back on track with Kiehl’s Age Defender moisturizer and when he starts looking ten years younger you can take full credit.
Pajama Set: A solid, dad-worthy gift. No dad is gonna turn down a set of soft pj’s.
Fragrance: I may have linked three, yes three, different fragrances in this gift guide, but they all sound so amazing I just couldn’t resist. First up we have Mister Marvelous by Byredo which I would purchase for the name alone. But the neroli and green lavender notes would also have me swooning, to be sure.
Dopp Kit: This Jack Mason dopp kit can do no wrong.
Sunglasses: To keep him looking extra fly during summer bbq’s and trips to the beach, get him a pair of the classic Ray Ban Aviators.
Jacket: This Barbour jacket from J.Crew checks off all the boxes – lightweight, fashionable, dad-friendly. A pricier option than those above, but if you’re in the market it’s a safe choice.
Work Gloves: I have a sneaky suspicion my dad isn’t the only dad who would seriously appreciate a pair of solid work gloves. These Pigskin Drivers gloves by Dickies are somehow simultaneously classic and rugged. He’ll love them.
Facial Scrub: Like I said, dads don’t really pay much attention to skin care. Set him up for skin success and get him this Kiehl’s Pineapple Papaya Facial Scrub. His rosy cheeks will be thanking you within the week.
Slippers: A pair of slippers for dad, need I say more?
Backpack: This Filson Twill & Tin backpack is so dope I’d probably buy myself a matching one. Filson has been a long-time favorite brand of mine. I love their quality and craftsmanship, and I guarantee your dad will too.
Comb: How classic is this Baxter of California comb? Not only will it make dad feel like The Fonz, but it would also look sweet sitting on a bathroom shelf. Because, you know, decor.
Robe: A cozy, fleece-lined robe that is also surprisingly affordable.
Bow Tie: I love a dad who sports a bow tie. Classic, sophisticated, and slightly on-trend.
Hair Paste: Much like skin care, dads care little about their hair. Unless they are letting their daughter blow dry it. Which I have. Another story for another time. Anyway, bring your dad’s ‘do out of the stone age with a workable hair paste.
Watch: Ok so this puppy is definitely expensive, but from what I hear Shinola watches are worth every penny. The investment is most certainly worth it when you consider you’re saving dear old dad from the Timex stage of life.
Fragrance: Second fragrance is this Acqua di Parma cologne. No joke, this is the scent description: “A composition born from sunny Sicilian fruits and a harmonious blend of floral essences such as lavender and damask rose that merge with woody notes of vetiver, sandalwood and patchouli.” Um, yes please.
Shirt: The classic gingham J.Crew shirt.
Tie: You can never go wrong with a tie for dad, and I especially like the subtle color and Irish linen used for this one.
Swimsuit: Keep dad in the current decade with this seersucker swimsuit. I’m betting he hasn’t updated his trunk since 1962.
Travel Kit: Travel-sized everything makes for a happy daddy-on-the-go.
Belt: If you can’t tell already, I’m a wee bit obsessed with the Detroit-based brand Shinola. This beauty of a belt does not disappoint.
Wallet: Another Shinola gem.
Pocket Square: Add an extra-sweet touch by having his initials monogrammed on one corner.
IPhone Case: Keep dad away from the belt-clip with this sleek IPhone case from J.Crew.
Baseball Cap: If dad is gonna rock a baseball cap at all those summer ball games, make sure it’s a super-cool gingham one.
Fragrance: Ok last but not least, this scent boasts notes of chic and heady cocktails mixed with honey and woody undertones of cigar boxes. It doesn’t hurt that the label is oh-so-lovely to look at.
