Hello there, and happy Friday! How was your week? Mine was good – hectic, busy, a little (ok, sometimes a lot) stressful. But productive and fun! I feel like I’m finally finding my groove with my new job – although there are still some ups and downs. Some days I feel like I’m on a roll, and others I feel so overwhelmed with stress, it’s like I’m in a sinking boat.
No pity party here – honestly, most days are great! Just last night I said to Tom, “I love my new job! I can’t believe I’m getting paid to do this!” It’s just that when the stress hits, I don’t have much in the way of coping skills. I feel my heart rate spike, my stomach drop, and the panic set in. It’s a race against the clock to get it all done, fit it all in, answer all those darn emails! Especially if I want to keep my 9:00 bedtime 😉
Hence the lack of regular posts in these parts. I used to be religious about posting every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. But since the new job, it’s really slipped down to two, maybe even one post per week.
I hope you understand, dear readers! I’m sure you do. You’ve probably been there too, no? Tell me, what are your top tactics for dealing with stressful situations?
Like I’ve mentioned, I’ve been diving deep into my yoga practice. I’ve also been trying to take deep breaths (primarily in the car, bopping around from job site to job site). It helps, but I’m sure I could do a lot more. Looking for any helpful tips here people! I’ll give anything a shot 😉
I’ve also been trying to connect with friends. My friend Maya let me borrow this sweet coral coat (thanks Maya!) and we got to hang for a short while before work this week. It always helps me to check in with with fellow females to share our successes, but also our struggles. When I talk about it, I feel less alone, and more connected to humanity in general (getting real meta here for a Friday).
And I’m sure things will continue to level out at work. As I continue to get my bearings and a handle on things, I’m sure the stress will also peter out. But until then, I’ll try any suggestions sent my way!
Hope you all have a happy (stress-free) weekend!
