Memorial Day will always feel exciting to me. I think it’s because as a kid it meant summer was sooooo close, like just around the corner! The pool opened on Memorial Day weekend, plus we had that extra day off school. And usually we were celebrating with family and friends at some sort of BBQ extravaganza.
Can I go back to being a kid now please?!
As an adult, it still feels like the “official” start to summer (even if this year’s weather is proving otherwise). At my last job, I usually had to work on Memorial Day, but it also meant that our busy season was about to end. So there was still a feeling of anticipation for summer (and catching up on sleep after that final push). This year, with my new job, I actually get to enjoy the day off!
Memorial Day also gets me so excited for summer style – gingham, straw, red-white-and-blue – are suddenly everywhere and I love it. (Though if you read this post, you know I’m a big proponent of wearing white year-round). This season there are SO many cute styles I cannot get over! Here are some of my recent picks…
