Happy Monday! And it really is a great start to the week, as I’m LOVING my new job! We had such a good weekend… well most of the weekend. Friday I actually managed to fight off a migraine, so I was wiped and basically just passed out after work. Saturday we had Mitch and Emma over for dinner and it was so fun! (Kelly, we missed you!!) Sunday was spent painting our bedroom and omg I can’t even tell you how much I love it (see grainy iPhone pic above). We chose Farrow & Ball’s Hague Blue (one of my all-time favorites). I took the opportunity to wash our curtains, and well, you know me, it probably was the best part of my whole weekend. We sneaked in a quick walk in the sunshine in the late afternoon and then put our house back together and started prepping for the week. (By “prepping for the week” I really mean Tom cooked and I wrote this blog post #husbandoftheyear.)
Today’s Mood Board Monday is a bit of a twist. Since I’m in design school I figured why not share some homework with you guys? We were recently assigned to create a kitchen design plan. So here’s a sneak peek into a quick stab at a kitchen that’s been brewing in my brain as of late…
Faucet / Sink / Cabinet Pulls (on sale!) / Bar Stools / Pendant (on sale!)
I’d love to hear your thoughts! As far as our bedroom goes, it’s coming along. Painting felt soooooo good. I still have a couple things to check off the list… namely adding plug-in sconces (I like these, these, these, or these – which is your favorite?), and I eventually want to get these or these bedside tables (we have under-bed storage, so we need wall-mount ones, otherwise I’d be getting these! Also, side note, major bedroom furniture sale at West Elm!) Other to-do’s include painting our Trones cabinets the same color so they blend in with the wall, finding (or making) massive art for over the bed, and adding new linen roman shades. But those are all pretty far down the line. For now, the painting has made me finally feel like we’ve made this room ours. I used to get so impatient with getting my own home “just right,” but lately I’ve been really loving the freedom that comes with taking my time. Letting ideas simmer and brew, trying out different concepts without commitment, allows me to feel more creative and willing to take risks. I feel like allowing myself to live in a space for a while really educates me on what I actually need from that space. I’ve got a couple design thoughts bouncing around my head lately, including using this guy in our dining nook. Still simmering though…
I’m sure everyone else watched the Oscars like a normal person, but since we don’t have cable we are winding down with a movie and popcorn instead. I hope everyone has an awesome Monday, and if you need a little work distraction check out my Favorite Finds!
Oh and P.S., I just started this docu-series on Netflix, and the episode on Ilse Crawford is to die for! Highly recommend!!
