I admit it, I’ve got babies on the brain. No, I’m not pregnant. I just spend a lot of time with friends who are either expecting, or have babies. My best friend Nicole is due in June, and you already know about my obsession with Kelly’s sweet Emma. Not to mention Emily (who you may remember from this post) just gave birth to her second child – an adorable baby girl. All the babies have me thinking about one thing: the nursery.
Nurseries can be tricky – especially if you want to decorate the space before the baby comes, but are waiting to find out the gender. They can also turn one-dimensional and flat easily, since you’re buying lots of stuff at once and there is little time to let the room evolve. My favorite trick is to add at least one “adult” piece in the room. Maybe an antique dresser, or a marble side table. This will keep it from looking straight out of “Babies-R-Us.” Also, a gold crib doesn’t hurt 😉
Did you have a nice weekend? Fellow Chicagoans will agree – the weather was out of this world! Every winter I think, “Why in god’s name do I live in this frozen tundra, I’m definitely moving to California next year.” And then every spring I think, “This city is so amazing, I would never leave!” And thus the cycle continues. But this weekend really was spectacular. I had to work most of Saturday, but we had pizza with Kelly and Mitch on Saturday night. Sunday was glorious – I took a yoga class from my favorite teacher (hey Halle), then Tom and I did a little spring cleaning around the house. I even embarked on my Major Closet Clean Out of 2017! What is said closet clean out? Well, I finally decided I’ve been holding onto so many clothes I “might, one day” wear, and it’s time to bite the bullet and let them go. I have a feeling my sanity is going to thank me! I’ll be sure to do a whole post breaking down the process, but I’d say I got a good head start yesterday!
Afterwards, we packed up lunches and headed to the lake for the afternoon. We sat by the water and relaxed, then rode divvy bikes up to our old place in Lakeview and walked home from there. It was perfect. Sundays with Tom are my favorite. Well that, and staying in 😉
I hope you had a great weekend too, and are ready to tackle the week ahead! Here’s to lots of coffee and a productive Monday!

Can you just design my life though? Please? 🙂

I’d be so okay if my grown up lady apartment looked like this, too.
